Important Financial Disclaimer

Ohm Equity is a general information tool only. It does not provide personal financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, or any form of professional advice.

Ohm Equity does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL)and is not authorised to provide financial product advice under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

The calculations, projections, and comparisons shown (including NPV, annual return percentages, and references to market returns) are estimates based on general assumptionsand publicly available data. They do not take into account your personal financial situation, objectives, or needs. You should seek independent professional advice before making any financial decisions based on information from this tool.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing and using the Ohm Equity website and calculator ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Nature of the Service

The Service is an educational tool that:

  • Estimates the financial impact of home energy efficiency upgrades using general assumptions and publicly available Australian market data.
  • Uses a Net Present Value (NPV) methodology with a default 10% discount rate to compare upgrade options.
  • References government incentive programs (Commonwealth and state) that may change without notice.
  • Compares investment returns to general market benchmarks for informational purposes only.

3. Accounts and saved properties

You may optionally create an account using your email address. Account creation uses a passwordless "magic link" sign-in system — no password is required or stored. By creating an account, you agree to provide a valid email address.

Signed-in users may save property data (calculator inputs and upgrade selections) to access across sessions and devices. This data is stored securely on our servers. You may delete saved properties at any time. You may also request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.

Guest users (not signed in) can use the calculator without any data being transmitted or stored — all calculations run locally in the browser.

4. Privacy and analytics

By using the Service, you acknowledge that we use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to collect anonymised usage data about how visitors interact with the site. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies for this purpose. No calculator inputs or personal financial data are transmitted to any analytics service.

For full details on what data is collected, how it is used, and how to opt out, please see our Privacy Policy.

5. No financial advice

Nothing on this website constitutes personal financial advice, investment advice, or a recommendation to purchase any product or service. Specifically:

  • References to "beating the market", "annual return", or percentage returns are simplified comparisons for illustrative purposes only and should not be interpreted as investment advice.
  • NPV calculations are based on assumed energy prices, discount rates, and usage patterns that may differ significantly from your actual circumstances.
  • Government rebates and incentives are subject to change, have eligibility criteria, and may not be available in all areas.
  • Actual costs, savings, and payback periods will vary based on your home, location, installer, energy usage, tariff, and other factors.

6. Accuracy and limitations

While we strive to provide accurate estimates, we make no warranty that:

  • The calculations are accurate, complete, or up-to-date.
  • The energy price assumptions reflect your actual tariff or future prices.
  • The installation costs reflect actual quotes you may receive.
  • Government incentive amounts, eligibility, or availability are current.
  • The results are suitable for making financial decisions without independent verification.

All calculations run entirely in your web browser. Signed-in users may save inputs and results to our servers for convenience, but we do not verify inputs or validate results against real-world data for your specific property.

7. Third-party data and references

The Service relies on data from third-party sources including the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), Canstar Blue, SolarChoice, the Clean Energy Regulator (CER), and state government programs. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of third-party data. Specifically:

  • Energy price data is sourced from publicly available retailer comparisons and regulatory publications. Actual tariffs vary by retailer, network area, and plan.
  • Equipment cost estimates are derived from industry price indices and may not reflect current installer quotes in your area.
  • Government incentive amounts, eligibility criteria, and program availability are sourced from published government information and may change without notice to us.
  • STC (Small-scale Technology Certificate) values are based on the current clearing house price and deeming period, both of which change over time.

References to third-party products, services, or companies (such as energy retailers, battery manufacturers, or government programs) are for informational purposes only and do not constitute endorsements. We also use third-party analytics services (Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics) to improve the Service — see our Privacy Policy for details. We have no affiliation with, and receive no compensation from, any third party mentioned unless explicitly stated. We make no warranty regarding third-party data and disclaim all liability for errors or omissions in data sourced from third parties.

8. Limitation of liability

  • The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We are not liable for any loss, damage, cost, or expense (including financial loss, lost savings, or opportunity cost) arising from your use of or reliance on the Service.
